Congratulations! I remember so clearly the moment the judge put down his gavel and they were mine! What joy! I’ve had the privilege of both bio and adoptive kids. Always thought adoption was harder, so much heart wrenching examination. Yet, such joy to watch each child develop into who they are. Enjoy the rollercoaster ride.

I just love seeing people take a break from writing because real life is needing to be lived before coming back to the writing. The writing is always so much better after those breaks. Thank you for sharing this with us. Congratulations on your three little ones and your beautiful family! My son has still been carrying around your photo every day this week. 💛

Crying reading this. That is so wonderful for you and your family. I have family that has foster kids and have had them for 12 years (since they were 1.5 and 4 months) still not adopted due to the insane corruption of cps/covid backlog still. Praying to your family!

Congratulations! We adopted and it is a hard journey because all adopted children have had a difficult start in life. But as long as you and your husband stay strong you will be giving three children a good start in life. Make sure you both get support and good luck. It’s a wild but worthwhile journey.

Congratulations! We adopted foster kids but it took the system 3 years to get it done, but mine were in school and in therapy when I got them, so maybe they wanted to make sure it would work. It was hard, but rewarding work. I learned a lot in those years. They are now in their 30's.

I’m so very happy for you—and this is the first time I’ve come across your Substack. You have a beautiful family. Looking forward to reading more. (And as a mom who had 4 in five years, I know that “touched out.” It passes, and kind of morphs into overloads of other things. Wouldn’t trade any of it, although there were days…)

Yes, ALL the varied feelings AT the same time. 4 kids in the space of 5 years felt like a lot; I can only imagine the overwhelm of 3 at once!!

Congratulations on your finalized adoption! 💞 God bless you and your family. From one foster/adoptive mom to another, take all the time you need as you bond and adjust to your new life together. These days are both glorious and hard, so give yourself (and your precious little ones) lots of grace. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
