I love the idea to “Make it shareable.” That’s one of the aspects of the comp book I’m reading that I realized I liked after reading this. (Love the moment with your foster daughter! That speaks volumes about the safe space you’re so generously providing.)

I think making it shareable is the secret to massive success of people like Brene Brown and Simon Sinek! And thank you :)

The financial / insurance industry is fraught with those business card books. Conference leaders encourage advisors to write them, and those who do are revered. Our society is all about "it's not about you, customer, it's about me." I'm #1, I'm the best, etc. Everyone needs to read Donald Miller's "Marketing Made Simple" to understand what customers really want. And it's not to read your self-gratifying book!

So agreed! And Marketing Made Simple is a fantastic framework for coming alongside your client/reader as the guide, rather than the hero of the story. :)

Heartwarming about your foster daughter. 💜 And thank you for these tips! As I continue my editing, I’m going to mull on these.

This dispatch was rich, Ariel (and also a little scary for this memoirs writer). It added some books to my purchase queue, and I preordered your book. The last section was my favorite. I still remember the first time my daughter called me “my dad.” ❤️
