This is it, friends.
I wish I could go back and tell myself ten years ago that this would happen.
My five-year-old and ten-year-old and twenty-five-year-old and, hell, my soon-to-be-thirty-five-year-old selves are so freaking proud.
I’ve been listening to the audiobook files (hint: You can listen to the Introduction from our audiobook on yesterday’s podcast episode) and wow. I’m just sheepishly amazed that we really did it. We wrote this book. And I think it’s pretty dang good.
It has everything I (we - Liz & I) know about book writing in there. It’s honestly everything that I would tell my clients when I worked with them 1-1. Are there a few small typos I might change if I could do another round of edits? Sure - but nothing would change the message:
“Any author with a great idea, a boatload of gumption, and a plan can write and publish a kick-ass nonfiction book.”
We really believe that. And we’ve seen it happen over and over and over again.
For example… Literally, as I was typing this, an email landed in my inbox, informing me that the book map I had helped an author create 2+ years ago had not only turned into a successful book proposal that landed with a traditional publisher, but the author just finished the full manuscript and is looking forward to her book being published next year!!
Omg. That is incredible!
And she’s not the first. I’ve helped people like Mitch and Lori and Gala and Loren and Meg and Matt and Marcel ideate, plan, write, and publish the book of their dreams. Every single one of them was a first-time author who had no idea at the beginning of the process if they could do it. Liz has her own list of authors just like them.
And then there are the people who have done the Map Your Book cohort or been in one of our other classes. It’s always so validating to see that the principles we teach really do pay off.
Our goal has never been to hold our knowledge close to the chest and keep it locked up. Our goal has always been to help as many Hungry Authors as possible.
That’s why I’m so excited this book is now out in the world.
Here’s what you’ll learn in our book:
The mindset you need to be successful in Chapter 1
How to find your “Goldilocks audience” in Chapter 2
Exactly what genre your book fits in - and why knowing your genre matters in Chapter 3
How to learn from other books and contribute something new to the conversation in Chapter 4
6 ways to land on your Big Idea in Chapter 5
How to map out your entire book from start to finish in Part II!
What to write when you don’t know what to write in Chapter 10
All of the best ways you can set writing goals in Chapter 11
How to stay on track towards your goals and hold yourself accountable in Chapter 12
The three-phase process for editing your work in Chapter 13
The pros & cons of traditional, self-, and hybrid publishing and how to take the right next step in your publishing journey in Part IV
If this sounds pretty cool to you, then I would LOVE your help sharing about it. Liz and I are just two people. But you - all of you! - have incredible gumption. You, Hungry Authors, are the go-getters and get-doners of the world. You inspire me.
If you’d like to help, here are some ways:
Of course, buy the book from your favorite shop!
Post about it on social media.
Join us today at 3p ET for a virtual book toast!
Lastly, we’d love to see you for a brief celebration toast today at 3pm ET, hosted by our friend Merideth Hite Estevez. You don’t need to sign up ahead of time; there’s no registration required; we don’t care about keeping your email (although if you’re receiving this in your inbox, then I already have it lol!). Just pop open Zoom on your phone at 3p and say hi. We’d love to see you there!
Thank you again for helping us make this dream a reality - and in turn, we hope it’ll help you make your dreams a reality.
